Middle Eastern and African Studies
MEAS incorporates courses from a wide range of disciplines that deal with the geographical regions of the Middle East and Africa, and/or address issues relevant to their peoples and cultures.
Specially constituted MEAS courses help students appreciate the advantages of inter- and multi-disciplinary work, as well as illuminating the value of studying these two regions, together. While not currently offering Graduate programs, we do facilitate the engagement of MEAS expertise in Graduate committee/thesis work. We also encourage linkages across faculties and between universities, here and abroad. MEAS is a diversity of students and faculty working, learning enjoying together.
Through MEAS you can pursue a Major, Double Major or a Minor degree in the Faculty of Arts or attain a Certificate recognizing an “Area of Special Interest” in the Middle East and Africa. Other Faculties permit a Minor in MEAS and the Certificate can be combined with any program within or outside of the Faculty, including Honours Programs.
